I committed to playing for Kendama Depot in 2024 by answering three questions MJR asked me, one of which was: why Depot? I obviously thought it’d be awesome to have the option to play any setup I wanted, but I primarily chose Depot because I wanted to help MJR’s mission of building a prominent East Coast scene. When I formally joined the team, Boston area Kendama was on the rise: Sunday seshes at the Quincy Quarries were drawing solid turnout and local players were rapidly improving. Depot was the only organization hosting jams that would bring in surrounding communities (New York, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine) and when these communities came together, it felt like we were truly beginning to have the type of scene that I’d dreamed of living around since I started playing in 2012. Today it feels like we’re closer than ever to these goals, and I’m so excited to continue working with Depot to strengthen the New England Kendama community
